Even though we’ve had a concert, and you have a long weekend – don’t forget about your ONLINE PRACTICE JOURNAL! See you all Monday where we’ll start preparing for our Veteran’s Day Assembly concert in TWO WEEKS!
If you look over to the right, you’ll notice a new page titled “Practice Journal” – this is your new best friend! Instead of accidentally forgetting your practice journal at school or losing it among your piles of homework – you can now do your practice journal on your computer!
Every week, each student must fill out this practice journal by Monday at noon (at the latest) and you will receive 8 points each time! There will be a paper practice journal still available, but I highly recommend doing this so you can access it anywhere you have the internet! Feel free to come in to use our computers to complete these assignments too!
Your first one is due by this Monday, October 24th!
We are going to have a small writing/playing quiz all about chromatics and enharmonics this week! We have been going over it for over a week, and had a study session during class today to make sure we understand everything before the test!
I have made some e-flashcards for you to review – you can even download it onto your iPod! Check them out, and ace this test!
It’s a brand new year, and the 7th grade band is off to a GREAT start! This week, we’ve been going over the steps to how to practice – correctly! These tips will come in extremely handy once we start up our Essential Elements Book Goals in our weekly lessons starting September 6th!
But don’t forget about the Music Department Open House & Ice Cream Social on Monday, August 29th! Meet me and the other music teachers, ask questions, learn about the new practicing expectations, grading system, and much more!

We had so much fun at Indy – but we’re not done yet! This Thursday, June 2nd, is our final band concert of the year!
Time: Students are required to be there at 6:40pm, with a concert start time of 7:30pm.
Where: RMS Gymnasium
Bring: Folding music stand, music, and instrument from home
Wear: Black shoes, socks and pants with red RMS Band long-sleeve polo shirt.
See you then!
Next Thursday, May 26th, we will have a combined 7th and 8th grade marching band rehearsal after school from 3:15-4:15pm. This is our only practice together before our big Indy 500 parade – everyone must be there!
Following this rehearsal, there will be a 20-minute Indy chaperone meeting starting at 4:30pm. All chaperones have received an email about this meeting – if you haven’t, please email me at lisa.hatfield@bps101.net so I can forward you that information!
If the weather is bad and forces us to cancel the Thursday rehearsal, we will have a make-up rehearsal the next day, Friday May 27th. If this is the case, the chaperone meeting will also move to this new day.

Here in the RMS 7th grade band, we work hard and play harder! This year, you will learn how to tackle more challenging music…but this means more dedication to your instrument! Rehearsals are a place to showcase all the work you’ve done at home, so make sure to know your notes and rhythms when you come in each day to class! We take awesome trips and have amazing performances – all while having fun!
